FARMERS MARKET POLICIES

POLICIES

OUR LOCATION

The Pepper Place District has been the location for our state certified farmers market since 2000.

Early each Saturday morning we set up before opening at 7:00 am. When the market closes at 12:00 pm, the tents and tables disappear until next Saturday.

While we’re open to the public and held outdoors, our Market is privately-owned.

The market has a street closure permit for 29th Street South from the City of Birmingham as well as a permit from Sloss Real Estate for their privately owned parking lot on 2nd Avenue South.

Thank you for following our market policies and helping us keep Pepper Place the best Place to be.

No loitering, no soliciting, and no panhandling is allowed. No exceptions. We have legally obtained a street closure for the grounds occupied during market hours. This includes city-owned sidewalks within the market footprint during operating hours.

No smoking and no vaping while on farmers market grounds between the hours of 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM. We ask vendors and shoppers who smoke to cross the street on 2nd Avenue South away from the farmers market.

No sales before 7:00 am. All sales must be made by 12:00 pm.
All pets must be kept on a short leash. Bring what you need to pick up after your pet. Our market Info Tent is available every Saturday in the “big parking lot”.

Visit us at the Info Tent right away if:
– Your pet has an accident and you do not have what you need to clean up;
– Your pet is showing signs of distress and overheating during summer months. We have plenty of water, fans, and access to inside space to help your pet in emergency situations.
Please drive slowly while in the area. Watch for shoppers crossing 2nd Avenue South and use caution. Everyone’s safety matters! We have security on-site before, during, and after farmers market hours.
We’re here to celebrate community and enjoy our Saturday morning together. Cursing or fighting will not be tolerated.
