This September is the 8th Annual Women in Food Month at the Market, sponsored by Jones Walker and presented by members of the Birmingham Chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier International.
The official kickoff is this Saturday, so don’t miss the chef demo at 9am when Nataly and Isabel Rivera of Mi Pueblo Supermarket will join us In the Kitchen.
They’ll be making Isabel’s recipe for a Mexican family favorite, chilaquiles – the perfect dish for fall, tailgating and weekends on the deck and at the lake. Nataly is sister and Isabel is mother to Dulce Rivera, a member of Les Dames, and CEO of Mi Pueblo, the family-owned “super” market, in Homewood.
Besides selling produce, meats and baked goods commonly used in Latin cooking, Mi Pueblo offers housewares, cultural items like candles and pinatas, and a busy in-store restaurant. As Alabama’s “largest multicultural store,” it has become a destination too, offering tours to groups from all over the southeast. Meet the talented women leading this powerhouse food business Saturday, In the Kitchen at 9am.

A special thank you to Les Dames d’Escoffier International, Birmingham Chapter for hosting and to Jones Walker for sponsoring Women in Food Month this season!
